1st Asian Grand Prix, 18-23 February 2009, Bangkok, Thailand

Post  Admin on Wed Jan 21, 2009 3:37 pm

Hi,

Now that the AYOF championships have passed us, we shall now see the rest of the Malaysian team in action, in the upcoming Asian Grand Prix (AGP), to be held on the 18th to 23rd of the month of February, at the Thailand capital, Bangkok.
There are rumours flying around that several national Juniors shall be joining the elite trio of Cheng Chu Sian, Wan Khalmizam, and Marbawi Sulaiman. And word of mouth also suggests that several compound archers shall be joining them, in Malaysia's quest of dominating the tournament.
Now, the archers are currently under going training, to prepare them for Bangkok. And it seems like national coach Lee Jae-Hyung is optimistic about their performance, and is confident that the Malaysian team could still strike fear among the competitors, even though they have not been competing for the past 5 months already.
Although it is not apparent yet, who would be joining the elite trio, I would do my best to keep bringing you updates throughout the competition. Until then, we shall meet again.

Regards,

This is the link that can find the result and all this result is from the International Archery Federation website:-
http://www.archery.org/UserFiles/Document/Results/Results/2009/09_Bangkok_THA.pdf

Base on the link above, I only can get the result until semifinal. But besides that, our Malaysian archers didn’t come back with banana(empty) hands. I think here is some of the results most of the people wanted to know more and interested about: -
Men Individual Recurve Cheng Chu Sian silver
Men Individual Compound Azizul Azri B. Abdul Azis silver
Women Individual Compound Hasbudiana Bt. Burhanuddin silver

Another surprising result is our compound archers shoot the score with flying colors, they are Lang Hon Keong and Saritha A/P Cham Nong. Lang Hon Keong shoot 351 and Saritha A/P Cham Nong shoot 345. This two records are Malaysia new record score.

I would like to congratulation to all the archers who bring back the medals and to those who didn’t get any medals, please don’t give up!!

The team event will start on 23 Feb 2009. I hope all the Malaysian archers will bring back more medals.

Good Luck and All The Best!!

Hi,

Congratulations to the archers who had just safely arrived from Bangkok. They have successfully secured 5 medals. I am yet to get a hold of the full results from the related website. In the meantime, this competition is perhaps a stepping stone for many successes this year for the Malaysian team.
